Anura is a independent game engine initially developed by the Frogatto project as a general-purpose game creation tool. Since its beginnings there, it has grown to support several different games of widely varying genres. It is open-source and free to use.
Other games include Wesnoth 2, a fun remake of Wesnoth with simultaneous turns, and Cube Trains, a little 3D puzzle game.
